CaseTrack Product FAQ

Does CaseTrack offer a library of pre-existing reports?

CaseTrack includes an extensive library of standard report formats available for printing and on-screen viewing. Each of these reports includes an easy-to-use template for specifying selection and sort criteria. This allows each report to be printed in a variety of ways, enabling you to produce a report that meets virtually any information request.

If necessary, can I create my own reports?

For ad hoc reporting, CaseTrack ships with a fully licensed copy of Crystal Reports, a powerful, third-party report writer from Business Objects. CaseTrack's seamless integration with Crystal Reports makes it easy for users to create their own reports and add them directly to CaseTrack. This gives you the flexibility to create specialized reports when you need them.

Can I search for information in CaseTrack using different criteria?

Each module in CaseTrack includes a powerful template that allows easy, flexible searches based on any field or combination of fields for that particular module. Search results are displayed on the screen for easy viewing or updating and can be printed as a report if desired. Whether you are searching for matters assigned to a particular in-house attorney or outside law firm, all contract matters opened since the beginning of the year, or matters related to a particular business unit, CaseTrack's search screens put this information at your fingertips.

Can CaseTrack be customized for different practice areas?

CaseTrack includes features specifically designed to accommodate a variety of practice areas. Any matter handled by the law department, whether it is a contract, lawsuit, real estate, intellectual property, regulatory or other type of legal matter, can be tracked. CaseTrack's "do-it-yourself" Customization Utilities make it easy to tailor the application to capture information unique to the different groups within your law department.

Can I link electronic files and documents to matters in CaseTrack?

CaseTrack provides an integrated document management capability that allows users to link electronic files (e.g., documents, e-mail, faxes, images, spreadsheets) to matters, view a list of these files, and launch the files directly from within CaseTrack. For example, a scanned image of a complaint or a signed contract can be linked directly to the applicable matter. There is no limit to document size or the number of documents that can be maintained or tracked. CaseTrack can link directly to these files or, if preferred, through integration with third-party document management software.

Most of the matters we handle are contracts and agreements. Will CaseTrack work for us?

CaseTrack includes a number of features specifically designed to facilitate the tracking of contracts and agreements. Screens for capturing details of the contract, such as the effective date, governing law, term, renewal date, etc, and information on contract amendments and key clauses/provisions, supplement the other information available within the system.

How does the security work? Can I restrict access to the different matters in CaseTrack?

CaseTrack's security scheme is implemented with a combination of User Groups, Matter Access Groups, and Field Access Groups. The User Groups control permissions to the modules and administrative utilities, the Matter Access Groups govern what matters a user is allowed to access as well as the type of access (i.e., none, view-only, read/write), and the Field Access Groups control access to individual fields. You control what each user can do and see within CaseTrack.

Does CaseTrack support electronic billing?

CaseTrack's optional Electronic Billing Module is a fully integrated end-to-end E-Billing solution. It supports vendor submission of electronic invoices using the LEDES file format, or manual invoice submission with options for attaching a scanned image of the paper invoice.
