Product Overview
CaseTrack is a powerful, yet simple to use browser-based matter management application for in-house departments. Whether your staff is centrally located or in multiple sites spread across a large geographic area, CaseTrack's n-tier architecture and fully relational design maximize system performance for all users.
Modular Design
CaseTrack includes eight integrated modules: matter, docket/calendar, chronology, firm, invoice, electronic billing, file management, and timekeeping. Together these modules give corporate counsel the ability to review basic information about each matter, track legal fees by matter and law firm, monitor budgets, identify critical events and dates, and keep a running chronology of case status and progress.
Ease of Use
CaseTrack's superior interface and design make it easy to learn and use. EAG designed CaseTrack specifically for use by lawyers, paralegals and support staff with different skill levels—from novice to expert. Unlike other systems that include a complex and often confusing array of screens, CaseTrack includes a core group of well-organized screen displays that make it easy for the user to find and review all of the information related to a particular matter or law firm. Users can access the menu from anywhere in the application to speed navigation between the different modules.
Searching
CaseTrack provides several convenient methods for searching and retrieving information in the system. Each Module includes a QuickSearch template that allows easy, flexible searches based on the most commonly requested criteria with which to select records for review, including the ability to use keywords and wildcards. For more complex searches, an Ad Hoc Query facility is available that allows users to search every field in the database, including large text/note fields. A full set of Boolean operators is available to define the search scope. Search results are displayed on screen for easy viewing and can be printed to a report if desired. This feature is particularly helpful when responding to special information requests.
Reporting
CaseTrack includes an extensive library of standard report formats available for printing and on-screen viewing. Each of these reports includes a powerful template with a GUI interface for specifying report criteria (e.g., filters, sort options) before the report output is generated. This allows each of the standard reports to be printed in hundreds of different ways. All of the reports can be previewed on the screen or exported to Word, Excel, or Acrobat at the user's discretion. Where custom/ad hoc reporting is required, a complimentary license for Crystal Reports, a powerful third-party report writer, is provided and can be used to design and fully integrate custom reports into CaseTrack. Standard reports, including user-defined filters and sort options, can be saved for re-use.
Security
Within CaseTrack, security is controlled through a combination of User Groups, Matter Access Groups, and Field Access Groups. User Groups control privileges at the functional level, Matter Access Groups provide security at the record level, and Field Access Groups provide field-level security. User profiles are administered via CaseTrack's User Maintenance Utility, which is only available to users with administrative privileges. CaseTrack's security scheme is extremely flexible and can accommodate the most stringent corporate security requirements.
Customization
CaseTrack includes fields for tracking a wide variety of information. However, if the need arises, user-defined tabs and fields can be added to a number of the forms to track information specific to different groups or matter types. You can create tabs, create fields, and control the placement of fields on the tabs, specify fields as required, and control where the tabs will appear among the other tabs.
